Nancy Beasley joined ArtsTeach in June
as regional director of North Carolina Wolf Trap.
Beasley
was the principal at Selwyn Elementary School in Charlotte for many
years and has a strong background as an early childhood curriculum specialist.
She helped to design the Bright Beginnings curriculum used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Schools, as well as served as a teacher with the system. She has also
been an adjunct instructor at Queens University and the University of
North Carolina at Charlotte.
Beasley earned her undergraduate degree in elementary
education from Duke University and her master’s degree in curriculum
and instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
She is certified in supervision and administration.
Beasley will serve as the liaison to the Wolf
Trap Institute and will be responsible for building partnerships with
area university research departments. She will design and implement
teacher, parent and teaching artist training institutes.
Janet Starke
Krogman joins ArtsTeach as program and grants manager
CHARLOTTE
N.C., March 8, 2006 – Deborah Cooper, executive director of ArtsTeach,
today announced Janet Starke Krogman has joined the organization as
program and grants manager. She will begin her new position on March
13, 2006.
“Janet brings
a solid background in arts management and education to ArtsTeach,”
Cooper said. “She has spent the past decade working in and administering
arts education programs here in Charlotte and in the Midwest. She will
be a great asset to our organization,” she added.
Krogman earned a bachelors
degree in arts management from Shenandoah University in Winchester,
Virginia and is currently completing a masters in arts administration
at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
In her new role, Krogman
will be responsible for the oversight and management of all program
areas at ArtsTeach. This includes managing projects with input from
the ArtsTeach Board, supervising staff and serving as the organizational
point person on research and grant writing.
While in graduate
school, Krogman served as the assistant arts projects manager for the
Greater Cincinnati Television Educational Foundation where she assisted
in arts projects, including an arts integration program for teachers.
She conducted site visits for teacher meetings and artist residencies,
and planned and implemented summer workshops and other professional
development opportunities for teachers.
In 2001-2003, prior
to moving to Ohio, she was the associate director of the Education Institute
for the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center here in Charlotte.
In this role, she managed the day-to-day operations of school and community
programs and events and worked with senior staff in programming, development
and marketing.
She also served as
general manager of the Barksdale Theatre in Richmond, Virginia from
2000-2001, as director of educational outreach for the Orpheum Theatre
in Memphis, Tennessee from 1999-2000 and as coordinator of ArtSmart
for the Nashville Institute for the Arts, an affiliate of the Lincoln
Center Institute, from 1997-1999.
